PAIC – Promoting Artificial Intelligence Competences in VET

About the project

According to UNESCO, AI will replace 2.2 billion jobs by 2024, most of which will be in Vocational Education and Training (VET). The PAIC project – Promoting AI Competences in VET – aims to enable the design or adaptation of open curriculum models for the integration of AI in VET and to transfer competences on machine learning algorithms to learners in real work situations. The project also aims to expand IT knowledge to integrate and promote innovative strategies in the VET system.

Objectives

  • Facilitate the design/adaptation of open curriculum models for the integration of AI in VET.
  • Transfer competences on machine learning algorithms to students in real work situations.
  • Transfer knowledge to end-users, enabling them to integrate real business problems from different business activities with machine learning algorithms using the best methodology.
  • Extend IT skills to integrate and promote innovative strategies in the VET system.

Activities

The different project activities will be organised and structured in the following main project work packages:

  • WP1 Project Management.
  • WP2 Artificial Intelligence Solutions in VET Curricula.
  • WP3 Testing of the VET AI curriculum, methodology and operating system.
  • WP4 Piloting training, validation of the AI curriculum.
  • WP5 Dissemination and deployment.

Results

  • A vocational education and training curriculum in artificial intelligence with a theoretical background in machine learning theory, based on applications from real business problems.
  • An interactive online platform equipped with various tools and codes for learning AI.
  • High impact on vocational education and training students on artificial intelligence.
  • Improving VET teachers’ competences for digital (web-based) teaching of AI topics.
  • A new innovative VET curriculum.
  • Increased knowledge on new approaches to increase the effectiveness of the learning process for the VET system.

Impact

  • Involving local, national communities, networks and advocacy networks.
  • Availability of all project materials/resources in all partner languages.
  • Public availability of free educational and digital components.
  • Improved skills and competences of VET learners and teachers that will have lasting effects on their personal/professional background, which will influence their ability to create lasting project change.
  • Increased willingness to cooperate at international level.
  • Mutual understanding of relevant practices and EU priorities
