Education Centre Geoss Ltd., Litija, Slovenia is a successor of the People’s University of Litija with more than 50 years of experience in the field of education.

We offer a comprehensive range of educational programmes: from elementary school for adults to secondary and tertiary education programmes, as well as numerous non-formal education programmes (general education, training and courses). In recent years, increasing attention has been given to various projects that develop and encourage lifelong learning among different target groups, especially the socially weak (elderly persons, rural residents, migrants, persons with intellectual disabilities, the unemployed), and to implementation of social and digital agenda and territorial cooperation. At our work we follow the local, regional and wider national and European needs. There are approximately 1000 adults included in various educational programmes at our centre each year, of which there are between 400 and 500 participants in formal education programmes.

Our scope of work presents:

– implementing programs and projects of European, national, regional and local level, carrying out direct actions in case of calls directly or indirectly issued by foreign authorities, with reference to the tasks of the shareholders, in matters of economic development, services for work and professional training, guidance, services for demand/supply matching, together with the promotion of the territory, including the development of the community and region itself, encouraging gender balance, supporting the shareholders in their institutional tasks;

-promoting, managing and coordinating public and private initiatives to favour the development of the economy, with particular reference to the upgrading of infrastructural facilities and the increase of employment and social inclusion of young people and others,

– conceiving, planning and managing courses and initiatives related to training and professional update, guidance courses and initiatives and activities related to education, training and lifelong learning.

In recent years, increasing attention has been given to various projects that develop and encourage lifelong learning among different target groups, especially the socially weak (elderly persons, rural residents, migrants, persons with intellectual disabilities, the unemployed), and to implementation of social and digital agenda, gender equality, region development and territorial cooperation, encouraging the development of tourism and touristic products in the region through sustainable tourism, responsible towards natural and human sources. At our work we follow the local, regional and wider national and European needs. Our organization is actively involved in empowering the people from different groups of adults with fewer opportunities, encouraging them on personal and professional level through implementation of multiple formal and non-formal educational programmes, individual and group targeted approaches and methods challenging their points of views and promoting lifelong learning as a value which can bring changes and improvements in people’s lifes.

Key persons involved in the projects are:

Sabina Rovšek, director has years of experience in managing and coordinating formal and non-formal adult educational programs and different national and European projects. As a member of the project groups, she has worked in multiple projects financed by the ESF funds for education of marginalized groups while managing enrolment and contract based education. By now she has prepared several project applications and financial plans, coordinated partner activities and ensured the implementation of the planned tasks.

Sandra Katić holds a master’s degree in History and master’s degree in Theology from the University of Ljubljana. She is a Head of Informal Education department in Education Centre GEOSS. She has years of experience in different types of curricular work, active participation in European projects and general contribution to the improvement of the quality of educational offer and life in the local community and wider. She managed and coordinated several formal and non-formal adult educational programmes and different National and European projects where she conducted researches and created innovative didactic approaches for different type of learners and developed new course material. She enhance professional learning through teacher story-telling, the use of visual methodology and classroom experiences. She works as a project manager and researcher on Erasmus+ projects, she is trainer of the trainers, she holds a diploma in the Art and Science of Neuro Linguistic programming, she is certified mentor of Study circles from Slovenian Institute for Adult Education (SIAE) and she is an additional expert associate of Academic quality assurance committee in department of Short-Cycle Higher Vocational Education. Sandra is mainly focused on developing new teaching methods on: pedagogy and andragogy, psychology, key competences for LLP, learning and teaching strategies, communication, intercultural curriculum, entrepreneurship, management, cultural heritage, leadership and transferable skills.

Tjaša Kozlevčar is a bachelor of European Studies and second cycle graduate in International Business. She has extensive knowledge on the functioning of the EU, its institutions, polices, and critical thinking about global societal and business challenges. During her work, she gained experiences in the field of European cohesion policy; she worked on a project funded by the European social fund where she was responsible for carrying out project activities, reporting, organizing workshops, media relations, etc. Through her volunteer work for a NGO called Association for rural development, she was involved in several Key action 1 projects for young people under Erasmus + programme and in a programme Europe for Citizens – town twinning, where she helped coordinating the realization of the project, prepare materials and reports.

Aleksandra Ceglar Vidmar is a university graduate geographer with 14 years of experience in project management. In this field her experiences include elaboration of project proposals, networking with potential project partners on national and EU level, administrative and financial project management as well as participation in project implementation within different EU programmes – transnational, interregional, cross-border and direct. She also coordinated the Subregional development partnership of the centre of Slovenia as an interest network of municipalities and the Local action group Heart of Slovenia as a public-private partnership for rural development, where she participated in elaboration of key strategic documents, networking with local stakeholders, providing advice on development of stakeholders project ideas, implementing different workshops and trainings and promotion of the territory. She was also involved in development of different tourism products and programmes in the area Heart of Slovenia. She attended several informal trainings on public appearance, project management, personal development and competencies, elaboration of annual reports and plans for public associations etc.
